The job
At each of the 10 UEFA EURO 20240 venues the Venue Manager (m/f/d) is responsible for the final preparations and world-class operations of his/her venue in conjunction with the stadium owner/operator, the tournament hub, government, regional and host city authorities as well as internal and external stakeholders. This role includes implementing processes, managing all necessary resources, and leading the venue team to ensure efficient, safe and high-quality services to everyone attending matches.

List of relevant tasks & responsibilities
April to October 2023 (Frankfurt)
  • Support the central venue management team in the planning and implementation of the wider UEFA EURO 2024 venue management project.
  • Development of key operational documentation, tools, policies & procedures.
  • Support (in some cases lead) on-site working visits.
  • (Depending on successful candidate) assigned to the coordination and supervision of a specific cluster of venues (e.g. collaborate with the stadium operators/owners and follow up on venue specific action points)
  • Support the development of the venue management training programme & content (aimed to venue managers and on-site venue management teams)
November to December 2023 (Frankfurt)
  • Support the delivery of the venue manager training.
  • Attend the venue manager training.
January 2024 to end of contract (on-site/venue based)
  • Create with the venue team on-site, the conditions for delivery of world-class football matches and an outstanding spectator and guest experience while ensuring good and productive working conditions for venue on-site staff;
  • Establishe and implementing effective project management to ensure smooth operations at the venue and high-quality match organisation according to UEFA EURO policies; 
  • Lead final preparations of the venue during the pre-set-up and set-up phase and ensuring the proper dismantling of the EURO overlay and handback of the stadium to the owner/operator; 
  • Implement, together with the Technical Venue Manager, the on-site infrastructure and facilities to the appropriate standard and within the agreed budget;
  • Collaborate successfully with service providers, stadium operator/owner, police, emergency services and other relevant partners; 
  • Ensure the accurate and timely flow of information/reporting to the central venue management team throughout the deployment phase on-site; 
  • Support (and to an extent “leading”) the organisation of working visits, venue tours and other visits/tours leading up to the final tournament;  
  • Ensure, that relevant partners are in full compliance with their contractual obligations, UEFA EURO 2024 tournament requirements and agreed planning and deliverables;
  • Train and lead the on-site venue team in close cooperation with internal stakeholders; 
  • Take full responsibility for the stadium handover and handback procedure, including damage reporting;  
  • Produce debriefs and final reports.

April 2023: 1x venue manger position who will play a key role in the central venue management team until January 2024 (move to venue) – Current vacancy
September 2023: 2x venue manger positions who will take the early ownership of their venues – Vacancies will be published Q2 2023
November/December 2023: 7x venue manger positions who will take ownership of the remaining venues - Vacancies will be published Q2 2023

All venue manager roles will end in July 2024/or on the first week of August 2024 (depending on venue).

Education
  •   University degree or similar with a focus on Event Management
Work experience
  • 6-10 years relevant working experience in a sports event organisation.
  • 6-10 years leading a diverse team with a multi-faceted background, responsibilities, and tasks.
  • Experienced in complex projects.
Set of Skills
  • Project Management (Proficient)
  • English (Proficient)
  • German (Proficiency would be considered as an asset)
  • Computer-literate: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, MSTeams            
  • Microsoft Project or similar project management tools (Proficiency would be considered as an asset)
  • Excellent communication skills – oral and written
