Broadcast Venue Engineering Manager

The job
The Broadcast Venue Engineering Manager (BVEM; m/f/d) will report to the Engineering Manager Venue Infrastructure based in Nyon, Switzerland and during the event at the IBC. At each venue the BVEM will be part of the UEFA Core Venue team consisting of the Broadcast Venue Engineering Manager (BVEM) Broadcast Engineer (BE), Broadcast Venue Manager (BVM) and a Venue Assistant. The BVM will coordinate with the UEFA Venue Manager at each stadium for all non-technical issues and the BVEM will take full overall responsibility at each venue for all technical/engineering facilities and operations including management of all suppliers. The BVEM will also liaise with the UEFA Venue Technical Manager within the Technical Services department for any technical issues or coordination as needed. There will be two BVEMs based in Frankfurt, each looking after 5 venues. The Frankfurt based BVEMs will each be allocated to a venue during event time, and they will also hand over the other 4 venues (documentation and drawings) they planned to event time BVEMs at each venue.

List of relevant tasks & responsibilities
  • Implement and work on, coordinate and execute all technical operations, infrastructure and needs for the Euro 2024 venues
  • Documentation – reports, drawings and all relevant planning documentation
  • Setting up and technical operations and delivery of technical services on all relevant matches
  • Oversee the technical planning, operations and delivery of the matches
  • Liaise with the Venue Technical Manager with the planning and coordination of all broadcast technical infrastructures at the venues
  • Coordinate the broadcast systems, cabling, power supply and all related technical installations and testing at each venue of the Euro 2024
  • Hand over to event time BVEMs at each venue
  • Ensure delivery of all multilateral and unilateral technical services to the highest standards during the matches – ensure full broadcast specifications are met and maintained
  • Manage the technical teams at the Euro 2024 venue, including technical operations center, cabling, commentary, OB van, Power coordination and all other technical suppliers
  • Implementation of emergency plans
  • Oversee venue dismantling after the last match at each venue
  • Reporting to and liaising with the Engineering Manager Venue Infrastructure
Education
  • University degree or equivalent qualification
Work experience
  • Minimum 10 years including experience working on major sporting events
  • Experience working in a Live Broadcast environment delivering solutions including OB facilities and host broadcast facilities
  • Experience in working with IT solutions in a broadcast environment is recommended
  • Experience working on major sporting events in a technical and broadcast capacity
